19 Jul Cymatics Collaboration
Cymatics comes from the Greek meaning “wave”. Cymatics gives a visual representation of a wave form and can give us a better understanding of how sound waves work. Working with political artist Darrel Field, utilising a standard speaker system and a dish of water he was able to produce these mesmerising patterns. With a camera and lighting rig,
Darrel was able to capture the physicality of Sound wave patterns within a specific bracket of time. The raw images were then sent to me, and the digital input was to transfer this array of unprocessed “research” document, into a visual coherent library showcasing the aesthetic of sounds. Through a lengthy editing process of individually retouching and comparing these images; in which I enhanced the whites, ensuring the delicate detail was not lost when resizing or recolouring these relatively small images, and collaboratively producing a collection of works that converse accumulatively as a collection.
